Considerations when buying a chair for my father in law

My father-in-law will be moving to an apartment near to us and we are in the process of furnishing it.

I want to get a very comfortable chair for him, but one that he will be able to get up out of by himself. He has poor balance and poor strength.

A recliner seems comfortable, but I'm not sure he'd be able to get up on his own from that type of chair.

How can we find something that is both comfortable and workable for him to maneuver with?
